If you’re going to run slicks on an NHRA track, the first thing the tech inspector is going to look at is your wheel studs. If they are factory length there’s a good chance that the track will send you home. The solution to this is simple, head to your local auto parts store and order up 10 new wheel studs for the rear. The extended wheel studs are made by Dorman and the part number is 610-509. If I remember correctly, these were about $5 a piece. Keep in mind that your factory lug nuts have a cap on them that will prevent you from using them again unless you take a drill and pop the center out of them. The cap is nothing but a thin piece of metal and is easily removed. Another fix to this is to purchase open lug nuts for your street wheels as you can see in the picture. As long as these studs seem to be, they still look ok while running the stock wheels.
